Bioinformatics Scientist — St. Louis

Canopy Biosciences is a rapidly growing provider of multiomics solutions for drug development companies. We are searching for a bioinformatics scientist to focus on design, analysis, visualization, and interpretation of NGS and other omics data. This opportunity offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment with a dedicated and collaborative, international team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will significantly contribute to the continued development and support of multiple cutting-edge genomic and cellular technologies. 


  • Designs, develops, and implements bioinformatic pipelines for omics-based data sets 
  • Data management and analysis solutions that aid in the storage, investigation, and dissemination of large data sets 
  • Provide bioinformatics support to R&D by analyzing and interpreting NGS data 
  • Communicate with clients to explain NGS and gene expression analysis 
  • Quality and Procedures – responsible for understanding experimental procedures performed to assure the accuracy and quality of results 
  • Work independently and be able to collaborate with scientists to make appropriate and timely decisions to meet deadlines on experiments and projects 


  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or related discipline or MS in bioinformatics or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience 
  • Familiar with molecular biology and biological pathways 
  • Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics software, packages, and databases 
  • Strong skills in the application of statistical analytical methods in genetic data analysis 
  • Experiences in using high performance computing and storage systems 
  • Experience in Illumina sequencing data and bioinformatics Next Generation Sequencing pipelines 
  • Experience with primer design for multiplexed NGS assay development 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large complex data sets, such as genome sequences, and to communicate data in a clear, concise manner 
  • Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Perl, Java), in a UNIX/Linux and/or Windows environment. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with project teams
